Hate crimes against Asian-Americans, African-Americans and Muslims are down in New York, the center said, but reports of anti-Semitic hate crimes are driving the overall total up.
Of the 364 hate crimes reported in New York through Nov. 3, the center said, 148 targeted Jewish people. There were 295 hate crimes reported in the city over the comparable period in 2018.
“The surge of attacks on the Jewish community, in large cities like New York and in smaller cities like Pittsburgh and Poway, really has no precedent,” said Jonathan Greenblatt, chief executive of the Anti-Defamation League, referring to deadly shootings at a synagogue in Pittsburgh last year and one near San Diego in April.
“The severity of these incidents seems to be increasing in both their aggressiveness and physicality,” he added.
We’ve seen enough. And clearly impeachment won’t force Trump out. No president has ever been impeached then convicted in the Senate. Even though Trump has been impeached it is unlikely he will be convicted in the Senate, which would force him to leave office. But we can do what happened in Puerto Rico. Our fellow citizens forced out the Governor of that island with mass protests.
Some will argue that we should wait for the election in 2020 to get Trump out. The problem with that is it assumes we will have a fair and free election. Trump with his buddy in Moscow stole the election in 2016. They are in the process of stealing the presidential election again. And there is nothing to suggest that Democrats are doing anything to stop it. This time it’s much worse. This time around the entire GOP is working hand and glove to protect the ‘great leader.’ It is a crisis. We are on the verge of seeing our country become a dictatorship. That is why we cannot wait:
While Trump is written about extensively every single day, such calls are relatively few. For all the tumult, investigation, and fierce partisanship Trump’s presidency has produced, it’s produced surprisingly sparse demands for his resignation. Even as Trump has been impeached by the House of Representatives, and top newspapers have called for the president’s removal, the other option — the only way a president has actually been ousted from office via the impeachment process — remains woefully under-discussed. And though Democrats have occasionally called for the resignation of administration officials such as Attorney General Bill Barr and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, they seem hesitant to take the same step for the president himself. Instead, they often call on him to stop creating division and “lead” the country.
What’s odd about the relative dearth of calls for is that Trump’s conduct clearly merits it. I’ve argued that calling for Trump’s resignation was the Democrats’ best move since they took the House of Representatives. And if, as many do, you think it’s appropriate for Trump to be impeached or removed, you should probably also think that it would be best if he just stepped down without all the conflict. In fact, it would be reasonable to argue that Trump should resign, but that an ultimately doomed impeachment process is too disruptive for the country. So in theory, there should be more support for Trump’s resignation than there is for his removal.
This is terribly unjust and evil. It makes you wonder what this fascist administration will do if they are re-elected. Are furnaces far behind:
This case is not isolated. This administration doesn’t give a damn if you serve in the military or not. After all, Donald Trump is a draft dodger who routinely insults veterans. It’s about targeting immigrants of color:
Over the past couple of years, stories of non-citizen veterans being deported have made major headlines. As it turns out, there is a process in place that provides extra consideration for those immigration cases, but federal officials haven’t been following it.
It’s an issue that’s affected at least hundreds of veterans, but the full extent is unknown because of a lack of record keeping, according to a report released last week by the Government Accountability Office.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement not only doesn’t adhere to the policy requiring a service record review before deporting these veterans, they also don’t track how many of them are caught by federal agents or ultimately deported, according to the report.
Immigrants are good enough to serve in the U.S. military but are not good enough to stay in the country that they risked their lives for in patriotic service:
At a congressional hearing yesterday, Boulder Democrat Joe Neguse asked how it takes for a service member to receive a response to a request for certification of honorable service in order to submit their citizenship application.
Previously, an applicant would receive an answer in minutes. Now, it could take months — if they receive a response at all, replied retired Army Reserves Lieutenant Colonel Margaret Stock.
“Under today’s laws, most deported veterans only come home to America with an American flag draped around their casket,” Hector Barajas-Varela, director of the Deported Veterans Support House told the congressional panel behind tears.
“There’s no honor in bringing deported veterans home to be recognized or thanked for their service only when they die,” plead Barajas-Varela, an Army veteran who was deported twice himself before then-Gov. Jerry Brown (D-CA) pardoned and allowed him to obtain citizenship.
With more than 100,000 non-citizens having served in the United States military, lawmakers on the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Immigration and Citizenship held a hearing Tuesday to consider HR 1078, the Repatriate Our Patriots Act, which would end removal proceedings for certain veterans and their family members.
Another smoking gun. But will that stop Russia/GOP from stealing the next election, as they did in 2016? Doesn’t look like they will be stopped:
The FBI has received Spanish wiretaps from an investigation of Russian money laundering through NRA that implicates Donald Trump Jr. Then there’s the money that GOP leadership received including the transfers made during the GOP convention.
Bottomline: A majority of Americans support impeachment and removal. The people want him out. That’s called democracy. If he had any decency he would resign:
The narrow majority who approve, 52 percent, is greater than the 43 percent who disapprove of the House voting to impeach Trump, the poll shows. Five percent of voters have no opinion on Trump’s impeachment.
Support for impeachment breaks sharply among party lines. Among Democrats, 85 percent approve of the House’s action, and only 12 percent disapprove. Approval among Republicans is only 16 percent, compared with 81 percent who disapprove.
Among independents, 48 percent approve of the House passing articles of impeachment and 41 percent disapprove.
Video proves definitively that Trump is rapidly becoming mentally unfit to be president. Will he make to the 2020 election? The Republicans certainly hope so. Or they might have to do a 25th Amendment number on him.
Finally a prominent voice in the evangelical community speaks out against the immorality of this president. And this publication is the most important voice in Christian media:
An editorial published Thursday by Christianity Today, a magazine founded by the late Rev. Billy Graham, called for President Trump’s removal from office in the wake of his impeachment, deeming him “grossly immoral.”
“We have reserved judgment on Mr. Trump for years now. Some have criticized us for our reserve. But when it comes to condemning the behavior of another, patient charity must come first. … To use an old cliché, it’s time to call a spade a spade, to say that no matter how many hands we win in this political poker game, we are playing with a stacked deck of gross immorality and ethical incompetence.”
Many in the press continue to misreport that Trump got his idea on the Ukraine conspiracy theory from Giuliani. Now we know for certain that is wrong:
President Trump told a former senior White House official that he knew Ukraine was to blame for 2016 election meddling because Russian President Vladimir Putin told him so, The Washington Post reports. The president reportedly embraced theories about Ukrainian interference early in his presidency, but he became more insistent after he met privately with Putin at the July 2017 G-20 summit. After meeting with Putin in Hamburg, Trump repeatedly said he believed that Putin didn’t interfere in the 2016 election—despite the conclusions of U.S. intelligence—and that Ukraine had sought to have Hillary Clinton in office. “Putin told me,” he reportedly told one official. Another former official said there was a “strong belief in the White House was that Putin told him” the information.
We need to demand that the station fire this individual. We cannot tolerate white supremacists who encourage violence because they don’t like how the ‘great leader’ is being treated:
Denver radio host Chuck Bonniwell began a segment of his afternoon radio show Tuesday by lamenting the “never-ending impeachment of Donald Trump,” and then saying, “You know, you wish for a nice school shooting to interrupt the monopoly.”
…Bonniwell hasn’t apologized yet, but immediately after Hayden’s on-air response to his comment, he told his audience that he meant shootings in “which no one would be hurt.”
Bonniwell’s comment came as KNUS is facing accusations that a staffer is a Nazi. KNUS Management is reportedly conducting an internal investigation, and the producer has denied posting pro-Nazi comments on social media. The results have not been announced.
Bonniwell, who’s a steadfast Trump supporter and publishes the Cherry Creek/Glendale Chronicle, has a long track record of comments that draw media scrutiny.
Just call him #MrImpeachment. Putin couldn’t help him this time.
Now let’s get ready for the trial.
This is a doozy. Just found it online. Trump calls for GW Bush’s impeachment and defend Clinton against his. Very appropriate to post this today’s events.
This could be a problem for Donald. At the very least it makes him look even worse than already is:
Powerful speech. Earlier Schiff mentioned that Trump didn’t care about ‘corruption’ in Ukraine in 2017 and 2018 when he didn’t try to stop military aid going to that country. It was only after Biden announced he was running for president in 2019 did he all of a sudden block aide to Ukraine.
And if the Senate does not convict and remove Trump. Then we impeach him again. Congressman Al Green makes this point. He fought to impeach Trump when very few Democrats in the House were even considering it. He is a great American.
